Yes, it's the mid-hours of a work day, but when I caught sight of this in my email, I just had to do a quick post about it because I'm so excited!

Jimmy Choo will be collaborating with H&M and the collection will be available Nov. 14th, that's this fall!

Any girl that doesn't make a 6+ figure salary would understand that it's hard to look good without breaking the bank. In light of this soaring demand of "Fashion for Less", famous designers have been joining with more affordable mass-producers to offer the general public great styles for less, such as Alexander McQueen or Paul & Joe for Target., and now Jimmy Choo for H&M!

What makes this Choo/H&M combo even more exciting is they are going incoporate clothing designs into their collection and will also include shoes, bags and accessories for men as well!

Styles from the Big Screen, part 1

Do you often get pulled into the hype of styles and brands from the big screen?
Take the movie "Twilight" for instance, whose character Bella's blue cargo-style jacket with a "faux-layered" hoodie is now available for purchase at fredflare.com (pictured to the left).

I was very tempted to get this jacket, I will admit.
But I don't think I'm the only one.

How often have you seen a purse/ jacket/ shoes/ cellphone in a movie and you just had to have it?
(Don't lie, I saw you bite your lip)

Combining big screen marketing with the vastly increasing resources on the web, you can find that "gottahavit" obsession in a matter of minutes (or seconds depending on how fast you type).

Although this realm of marketing is quite genius, it can at times, be over done. There's the obvious brand showcasing of cars in every action flick chase scene (though I'm sure some guys were drooling over the A8 in Transporter 3), or emblazoning the "All-American" soda brand across 747's at take off (does it make you thirsty?).

Either way, I'd still bet my pretty penny that the pre-dotcom star-struck would've loved to know where to get their rare sought-after items reminiscent of the silver screen.

I have finally found the moment in my life to post again...
and after reading all my previous posts, I realized, Hey! I went to Boston!
and Roanoke, VI, Washington, DC, Minneapolis, MN, and Frankfurt then Rothenburg, Germany... yes, I will try to post pics, there's a crap load of them scattered around between my cell phone (yea i forgot to bring a camera), actual dig. cam., and my comp. for the Japan photos (that was vacation, not work thankfully) which David took thousands of...
I have found millions of inspiration for creations, just hope I can find the time to start the engines... hope my crafting batts aren't dead from lack of use...

or at least that's what everyone keeps telling me... and i am thankful, that i wasn't more injured or worse... and i must thank the two nice ladies who had stayed with me until the firemen came, Yvonne and Tori i think their names were, and the fireman who wiped my tears away and told me "there's no reason to cry"...
but i do miss carlos... who got towed to my work and is sitting there right now if anyone wants to see how smashed up he is... pics will follow...
I am less shaken up and less achey, still bruised, but i need to prepare myself for a suit that may be filed against me, all the while praying for a miracle...
I feel like a car accident is like a plague on a village barely supporting itself...
and so it goes, life.. it's true, the world does not stop for your pain, but neither should you...

Out of everything and everyone, Carlos was always there, dependable, reliable, and steady. He took people places they would have never been able to physically reach themselves. He was the consistency that was much needed in the chaotic life of college and starting a job in the "real world". Although often taken for granted while being dragged through the mundane life of the working, he never failed to pull through to the end. He passed away shortly after an unfortunate accident in which he was hit on his right side. Dearly missed not only by the couple who knew him best, but by the quick acquaintances he met while aiding them in their time of need. As the thought of a replacement is unbearable, his partner of 2 1/2 years prays for his rebirth. Carlos was a gold sedan, of the Mitsubishi breed, a Galant ES type. May his pain be washed away with her sorrows.

quite possibly... as most ppl swear off Valentine's Day, in bitterness, or the commercialization thereof, I still enjoy the holiday, maybe just out of novelty =P and I was pleasantly startled by my "valentine" who actually is one of those ppl mentioned above but more about commercializing than bitterness (so i've been told), which has proven to me that nice things do happen when you don't expect them, want them nor need them... but i have to say, besides work, this past week has been a sweet one... i'd give anything to keep things the way they are... although i kno they won't, life's gotta have ups and downs, i pray that the decisions we make this weekend will lead to a week even remotely close to this one...
I hope everyone had a nice Valentines's, or just a nice week in general, it's never too late to love someone, (maybe a bit late for a gift) but never too late for love =P and I haven't felt this loved in awhile...

Official New Year's

I do believe the Chinese started the calendar first,... so technically it's the offical new year's eve today =P i've always set the two apart (american and chinese) as one for "couples" and the other for family...
hanging out wit family's been a nice break, from work, from everything... and as i test my sister's piano skills as new year's eve passes, i find i've missed my family more than i kno... so it's time for some "Erica says..."

Us three siblings went out to eat lunch with our dad, we decided on hawaiian bbq and we all got more than we could handle, as my brother picks at the last of his food, my dad tells him to finish it, so Erica shouts, "Eat you chicken! oh, i mean, eat your POULTRY!" I go, "oooh, your using big words now huh?" Erica says, "yeah! wait... Chicken is bigger than poultry..."

As Julie and I are rummaging around Forever 21, Julie picks out a shirt and asks me, "What do u think?" Erica replies for me, "It looks old." I tell her, "It's not old it's vintage." I then found a cute shirt to hold on to. Two minutes and another shirt critique later, I shout "Where'd my shirt go?!" waving my hands about. Erica pulls it off my shoulder and hands it to me. "Your getting old," she says. "I'm not old," I protest. "Fine, your vintage," she replies.

Bi-annual update

it's not really bi-annual, but it seems to have been that long since i've updated...
So working at the clinic has been nothing but interesting, the things I learn everyday, it really sparks the curiousity, the passion of why I had wanted to major in biology in the first place. It gives me such a new perspective of the gyneocology field and I begin to realize more and more, that this is what I really want to do. Of course it's gotten pretty darn hectic, with barely a min. to breathe, but when the phones stop ringing and no more patients are to be seen, i do get restless... but when that phone rings, the words just roll rite outta my tongue now... "Good Morning, Dr. Hamilton and Levine's Office, this is Sophia, How may I help you?"... working at a doctor's office has never been more exciting!
i kno, i'm a dork...

on a not so brighter note...
it's sad to feel pathetic, and it's pathetic to be so sad... oh gawd, give me the strength i need... I won't go back on my word... so gawd help me... and him...

and so it goes, another year older, another year wiser... or so they say... tho sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind... I can blame it on school, I can blame it on life, but in the end, it's all on me... so, I gotta get it together...

short term goals:

Finish these goddam classes and be DONE by the end of this month
Get a full time job... work my ass off, help wit rent, pay bills, etc.
Gain experience to help focus on a career
Save up for a new winter coat (hey, a girl's gotta stay warm ;)

Long term goals:

Save up money to pay parents back for Carlos
Pay off those darn student loans
Save up for future expeditions...

of course there will be more along the way, but these are the important ones for now... this year's been extra long, with its ups and downs... so here's to a brighter year =P

With all the commotion about food and feasting like there's no tomorrow, it's easy to forget what you had learned as a kid, what thanksgiving is actually for, why we spend it with our families and friends... and as I think back to grade school, making turkey cut-outs from the outlines of our hands, imagining the cornicopia of food that might have been on the table of the pilgrims and native americans and drawing them out, then the assignment where we write a few sentences about what we are thankful for... most kids say they are thankful for their family, or for the food, and I even remember one kid saying he was thankful for having a newborn baby brother...
This year, I am thankful for those who have been there for me when times were rough, those who listened to me b*!ch, cry, and complain, thank you for listening, i wouldn't have made it through the nite otherwise... and especially to my girls, I heart you all =P Have a great thanksgiving everyone, try not to knock out rite away *wink wink*

Crossroads...

No, I'm not talkin about that britney movie. i'm talkin about the metaphor. Even though you'd like to think that you could go down a path forever, even if it gets bumpy now and then, sooner or later you'll hit a crossroad, and that fork in the road signifies your time to choose. What the roads appear to lead to can be deceiving, so yes, you have no idea what lies ahead in either direction, even if you have a feeling of whether you would be more or less content with going down one over the other. Many have suggested one way, and even though it would make things easier, it doesn't feel rite... but it has gotten dark and cold... and you've grown weary, so weary that you start to doubt you can go on with such conditions, and you can't stand there forever... the easier path starts to look like the best option, but you kno once you choose you can't go back... you start to feel helpless, there isn't much else you can do... you cry out for guidiance but all there is to say has already been said... no one else can make this decision for you... so all you can do is collect yourself and hope/wish/pray that you choose the rite path... to be continued...

How much longer do I have to endure this... it's been too long... I just want to be free... when will this be over... Why am I not through with this? Why can't I just give up? I'm soooo tired of this! I don't kno how much more of this I can take....
How do you know if the fight's worth fighting for? I don't know if anything's worth anything anymore... *sigh* but I have to be strong... already gotten this far rite?

frickin blogger

So I had poured my heart out in one of the longest entries i've ever done, thought-provoking, retrospective, insightful... and when I clicked on "publish post", blogger goes down for maintenance... nothing I could do would bring it back, yes I tried going back, and forward and back again, but no, it was gone... bullet to the heart I tell ya, bullet to the heart...

So now blogger's back up and working again, and there's no way I could possibly reproduce the epiphany I had before, so... in bits and pieces that I can remember...
1.) Ultimately, the decisions you make not only affect yourself, but everyone one of those around you.
2.) Life is at least 75% struggle, and most people would be lucky to say that they are even happy ~25% of the time.
3.) The obstacles you overcome will make you that much more experienced and stronger.
4.) Corny as it sounds, soul-searching isn't for dummies. Take a moment to look at what things really mean to you, or you'll lose sight of people who are important to you... which leads to...
5.) It is vital to remember what you had to start with, those who were there at the very beginning, and those that stayed til the very end.

That's all I could revive from my random thoughts earlier...

On to a brighter side, a few highlights from this week...
I got to be an extra in a upcoming Will Smith movie, called The Pursuit of Happiness. Aside from being 2 feet away from Will on a bus scene =D I also got seranaded by a guy who happen to have his guitar with him on the set. Since I was too scared to actually talk to Mr. Smith, having a song sung to you with the strummings of a guitar by a random stranger can really make ur day...
During lab today, I was complaining to my classmates that we were missing the season premiere of Smallville at that very moment... the girl sitting across from me confirmed my disappointment, then said that I look a bit like Kristen Kruek! I was a bit startled and made sure I heard correctly. Indeed I did, and I told her that was very flattering... esp. since someone said a long time ago that I looked nothing like her... but anyways, it was a sweet thing for her to say...
I have begun to count on the kindness of strangers during hard times... it reaffirms my theory that you should smile at everyone you meet, or even walk by, because your kindness could make that person's day...

After over a week of sickness, a costly vet visit and sleepless worrisome nights, Juilet passed away this morning, lying next to me as I tried to keep her warm... I had optimistically hoped that she would fight it and stay with me, and I think she tried as much as she could... but I guess she was just too sick... I feel like I worked so hard to keep her here, but in the end she just couldn't hold on... I'm sorry Juliet, I hope you are in peace...

Obituaries

Sept. 17, 2005: Juliet passed away of prolonged wet tail and possible kidney failure at 10:00 in the morning. Juliet, a white and light orange Syrian hamster, was 1 year and 3 months of age. She traveled a bit from San Francisco to Santa Cruz then back with her college student chauffeur, Sophia. Her most recent residence was in Mountain View, Ca. with her chauffeur and her enthusiastic co-inhabitant, David. Although she did not like car trips much, she did enjoyed exploring new surroundings. Her favorite past times included running in her large revolution wheel/home extension, perfecting her skills as an escape artist, racing her chauffeur down hallways, and nice long naps in between. She is remembered as a playful yet sleepy hamster, but very gentle and sweet by her co-occupants and all who knew her. She will be missed dearly and indefinitely. May her spirit be in peace.

I realize I'm totally lost... yes, I walked this past June, but no, I'm not done yet, and I much as I want to finish by the end of this year, I'm not sure I will... hope/wish/pray that I can get into this ONE class, just this one class... =/ and as I read my friend's xanga, I realize, people's heart's get broken everyday, not just through relationships, but through broken dreams and failure, lost hope and faith, just through life in general... yet we still live each day, hoping, wishing, praying, for love, our dreams, success, our goals... maybe I'm just rambling, or maybe I'm just realizing something... now if I could only figure out wat....

Spring Break...

this year's spring break is probably one of the shortest we've had in ages... it's already half way over and I haven't done much of anything productive.... so much for spewing out a few projects before I get back to school... speaking of which, graduation stuff came in the mail yesterday and jeeeebus are things expensive! So our grad for Oakes is gonna be on Sat. June 11th at 6pm, yes i kno, late but Oakes graduation has the nicest view of the sunset =P I just wish I would be done when i walk... but looks like i'll have to take summer school b4 i'm done... *sigh* i'm such a slacker, i kno, but i try tho, i really do... just ask David... well, maybe not, he'd just tell u how lazy i am, lol! =P but yeah, not much going on these days, yet this break seems to fly rite by... oh! took Erica and her friend Emily to watch Robots yesterday, it's pretty funny! Robin Williams' still got it!

Parade anyone?

So Cindy gotta call from Chung Ngai (our old dance troupe place) and they ask her if she could help wit the Chinese New Year's parade, she agrees, and drags me along wit her... I figured it shouldn't be too bad, we're usually on a float... well we go to the pratice this past Sun. and find, not only are we NOT gonna be on a float.. but we're doin a dance... SERIOUSLY, the things I get myself into! So ladies and gentlemen, if u wanna good laugh, cuz apparently David thinks the dance is hilarious, check out the parade this coming Sat. the 19th, it starts at 5:30pm i think, we'll be about the first performance, something about monkey's fighting chickens... yeah... look in the background for some girls in pink costumes dancing around wit a fan and a handkerchief...

Time to update this baby that is... I know, it's been hella long since i've posted anything... school's been a pain, and i just got over the first wave of midterms.... *whew*
So,... oh! everyone should go watch Hitch when it comes out Feb. 11th, it's hella funny! and like David said, Will Smith is sexy... especially in this movie! lol! Guys could sure pick up a few tricks from this flick...
as for projects, i'm still workin on this tube scarf thingie... it's coming along nicely, should be done soon so hopefully u can be expectin pics of it in a bit...

I've been kinda at a loss for words lately... so figured i'd just start postin up random pics.. Startin wit this one, cuz I told him i would, hahahahah! This is Benny, Cindy's bf btw, so Cindy was over my house (in sf, like my messy ass room? that's just 1/4 of it) and we were just chattin in my room, Benny came over too, and got bored as us girls were talking... so he decided to amuse himself with watever he could find in my room... and thus, once he was finished "collecting", I had to grab my camera to get a pic, cuz Cindy kept squealin for me to, lol! ok, so much for updating on a regular basis..... but yeah... I'm running behind on christmas presents production and still need to get stuff for the christmas "gathering" that I volunteered to run this year at our house (becuz my mum thought it would be too much trouble, so i said i'd do it this year... me and my big mouth...) so yeah, if u've gots nuthin to do on christmas day, come by, say hi, eat some food and hang out while watchin me run around like a mad woman... well.. hopefully not so much of the last part... but anyways, hope everyone's having a great holiday season!

so I feel like i should update and post more since i'm on break... but since I dunno wat to post cuz i haven't finished any projects yet... I figured i'd post up random stories of the day, or funny bits of my day =P well, this one's actually a couple of days ago, but yeah, gotta start somewhere...

So I was trying to plug my laptop in upstairs to a phoneline for internet (we have dsl), but it kept going in and out, and it wouldn't stay stable so i kept fussin wit it. All this while Erica and her friend Emily are working on their astronomy homework and asking me questions. So she's shouting questions at me while I'm in the back room of the kitchen tryin to fiddle with the connection... I answer a couple and then get really occupied with the comp, then she shouts, "What keeps the Earth in orbit around the Sun?" and rite then the connection cuts out again and I shout, "Holy Jesus!" so Erica shouts, "that's the answer?" and I go, "wat, huh? sure." and she jots it down... 2 seconds later, "Wait, wat did u ask me?" .......yeah, i kno, I'm a great sister.... yes, I corrected her later, but could u imagine her turning that answer in? would've been great... oh well...

yarn/knitting stuff stores

So someone asked me if there were stores that sell just knitting stuff... sillie question, of course there is! well, first off if you want some easy places to find general knitting or crocheting supplies you could try Beverly's or Joann's... but for more specific stuff or a larger selection of yarn there's a a couple of stores I suggest in SF... one is Imagiknit, it's 3897 18th St., right off of Dolores, cross street Sanchez. you can also check out their site here. Another one in sf is Artfibers on 124 Sutter St. just past Kearny, it's a little hard to find cuz it's on the second floor of this building and the place is a bit smaller but has a comfy feel to it, although the yarn is a bit pricier it's still fun to walk around and feel all the different kinda yarns... here's their site.
Those are the only 2 I've been to... you can of course do a search in the yellow pages or something for more stores...
There's like one store I've been to in SC, but if anyone's interested, it's a pretty interesting store. It's called The Golden Fleece and is at 303 Potrero St. in SC, kinda off River St., they have a site too, here.
Also there's a bunch of online stores that are cool too, like the Yarn Market but I think it's always more fun to actually go to a store and play with all the yarn yourself... =P

Halloween Weekend

So this Halloween was completely more fun than last Halloween... Went clubbin both Fri. nite and Sat. nite (even tho actual Halloween Day was on Sun.) It was great to go out, party and just blow off some steam, since it's been such a long week, not to mention a long month, just lots of craziness nobody ever needs, but everyone always gets becuz that's life.
but anyways, Fri. nite was alrite, but I don't think I'd go to the Glass Kat again, lol! and I couldn't go home when I wanted to cuz I didn't drive (no Derrick, it's not your fault, but I'm gonna blame you anyways!:p) I went with Derrick and his friends, so his friend Vic drove, but after the party ended they had to meet up with friends at IHOP... yeah.... Anyways, Sat. nite was hella fun! Went with Linda, Mike and Connie, I drove (thank god), but I felt bad that everyone waited in line forever (sorry Linda!), but I think we all had a blast! I can't disclose too much, kinda like wat they say about Vegas *wink wink*... but I'll tell u this, the DNA Lounge is off da hook! ;p

Alrite, so the radiologist thought the Doc. was being a little overtly cautious about the dark area in the x-rays. So yeah, she doesn't think I have pnemonia, but the Doc. said I should go ahead and finish up the anti-biotics... better to be safe than sorry I guess... He did hear something in my lung tho... weird... but when I talked to the Doc. I forgot to ask for my x-rays back! ARGH! That's what I get for being all spacey, even more so while I'm sick =P Bleck! I had all these questions to ask him to, but I spaced out while waiting to speak with him and yeah, completely forgot... DARN! I want my X-rays!!! *sigh* guess I can go ask for them some other time, I feel like I've been at the clinic way too many times, I was just there today to get a note to show my profesors, they'll probably start to know my name! they'll be like, "Oh, it's that girl again, what does she want NOW?" =P oh well, you gotta do watcha gotta do...
anyways, goin home this Fri. so anyone in SF better hope I dun get ya sick! Muhahahahahahaha!!! (the nurse at the clinic wrote me a note that said no class while ill and contagious!) Julie says I should wear a mask, like the ones they wore in China when every was gettin SARS. Heeeell NO I ain't wearin no mask! shoo...

So yeah, who's up for clubbin this Fri. and Sat. nite??? C'mon ppl it's Halloween! Not sure what I'll be yet, but I'll figure it out. What does a perfect lung sound like?

So, no mini-project, as I just got sicker by Thurs. and worse on Fri. It was semi-manageable over the weekend, but I found it hard to breathe during any physical activity (ie. moving). I got just a little rest but I thought I'd be getting better by this week, but since I wasn't, on Tues. I went to the clinic to see if maybe they could tell me what's wrong with me. After spending over 2 hours there, I got some good news and some bad news. Good news is I gotta X-ray! (iono, I always thought it was cool to get an X-ray done, I wonder if I can get a copy of them...) Bad news is, Doctor thinks I have pnemonia. He had sent me to get an X-ray done cuz he didn't think my right lung sounded perfect (which got me wondering, What does a perfect lung sound like?) so after lookin over a couple x-rays of my lungs, he said it doesn't look scary but that there's a small dark area that looks like an infection. Lovely, an infection, in my lungs, it just couldn't have been somewhere EXTERNAL, I thought. Anyways, he said he'd run it over with the radiologist to make sure and call me the next day, but until then he was gonna treat me for the time being, for pneomonia. So I'm on anti-biotics, and he also prescribed me some decongestant stuff to clear up my sinuses. Yeah, it's a lotta meds, bleck! and they're these pretty big pills that you gotta chug down with hella water... *gag*
So I haven't heard back from the Doc. yet, and I'm still coughing, still stuffy, I don't think the decongestant stuff works that well, I swore the Doc. wrote Crantex on the prescription slip, but the pharmacy gave me Ami-Tex with (generic for Crantex) written next to it in parentheses... I know they're all supposed to work the same, but yeah, weird...
and they weren't cheap either! 55 bucks for the anti-biotics and 29 bucks for Ami-tex... *sigh* on top of that, I'm gonna be charged for the X-rays too... wonder how much that'll all total to... welps, it's all being charged to my student account, guess we'll see soon enough...
On another note, we've officially moved-in to our new place! We (Fay, Jen and I) finished moving everything over at like 2am in the morn (Sun./Mon.), lol! well we were pretty much done at like 8pm, but there were some last few items here and there, plus we had to help Fay clean the other place... but yeah, soon as I install the programs for my digi cam, I'll upload pics of the place, as messy as it is rite now cuz I still haven't organized all my crap yet...

Back in Service

So I finally fixed my comp, all by myself, thank you very much! boi was it a pain to replace the hard drive! stupid laptop parts! anyways, that was like almost 2 weeks ago, lol! yeah I had 2 midterms in the past 2 days... aint life grand? so I was pretty much cramming for those most of last week and all weekend and yesterday (or monday)... but yeah, it's been a long month.... or a long beginning of the school year rather... long days, long nites... and I feel like I've been surrounded by a lot of grief.... not, "good grief!" kinda grief, but like pain and suffering kinda grief... crying your eyes out, doubt, regret, heartache, remorse and mourning kinda grief... and suddenly I find myself wishing I don't always wish for a better life... because if it meant that everyone else around me would be suffering... then I couldn't stand not suffering with them... never wish you were better off I guess, because it just means that someone else out there is suffering more than you are... *sigh* to suffer is to build character... to suffer is to live... to suffer is to feel, to know you really are alive... and so we live on... as we should... because what doesn't destroy us, makes us stronger...

ps. I'm still working on re-installing stuff for downloading and uploading pics and also I haven't knitted anything since I moved back to SC, so hopefully after the move this weekend, I'll be posting up some mini-projects...

After physics class today, I started to have a headache as I realized that our first midterm is only a week from now. Still a bit exhausted from staying up late doing the damn physics homework the nite before, I sat down on the bench at the shuttle stop to rest and wait for the core shuttle. Two seconds later, two sorority girls walk over to wait for the same shuttle and since sorority girls like to talk overtly loud so the whole world can hear they're conversation, this is what I heard....
Sorority Girl#1 (on the phone with her boyfriend): What?.... I'm at the THIMAN BUS STOP... RIGHT BEHIND THIMAN!.... ok, bye.....yeah, bye! (hangs up)
Sorority Girl#2: What's Jessica's last name?
Sorority Girl #1: Poon.

Back-to-School

So it's been ages and ages since my last post, and since then, many things have happened, all put in list form for simplicity purposes:
1.) School started Sept. 23rd, also Kat's b-day, also officially moved back Sept. 20th, after which my craft-making craziness was put on hold.
2.) Many more b-days followed, last of which celebrated was Yvonne's on Oct. 1 (she turned 19, I felt older...)
3.) On the weekends that I went home, I indugled in some t-shirt reconstruction and turned an old Mission High t-shirt to a "preppy" collared button-up. Pics of which will be posted when I get Jae to take a pic of himself wearing it and send it to me to post, which will be the only way for me to post pics until I fix my comp, which leads to numbah 4.....
4.) My 2-yr-old-but-up-to-now-been-dependable Dell laptop gave up on me last week, decided not to start back up after a system restore... and after almost 2 hrs of talking and working on it with a tech support from Dell, it still decided it just can't start windows normally... but we got safe mode to work..... soooo.... I gotta reformat.... borrowed a external hard drive to transfer any important data (more like pics and songs and etc.) and off to a clean start it'll go... hopefully all will turn out ok, all of my classes have a website to be checked often and physics homework is all done online.... oh, how wonderful life can be....
so until then, I hope wat few of you who come by will bare with me on the picture-less blogging... and everyone thank Jen and Fairouz for lettin me hang out at their place all the time and now using their internet too! LOL! k, til next time folks...

Weeee! Wrist-warmers!

So I completed two projects since the last time I posted. Project 1: Tube scarf/neck cowl, which was so soft and cozy I tried to make an excuse to wear it everytime I go out. The pattern I kinda just made up as I went along. It was a little longer than I had wanted but still works great. Project 2: Fingerless gloves/wrist-warmers! I found a simple and fast pattern from Craftster.org (which is a really cool site/forum place by the way) and whipped them up after I finished my tube scarf/neck cowl (yes, I can't decide on a name for my creations, but hey, you try to! =P) Both of which are pictured below. Now I'm working on another pair of fingerless gloves which aren't so much wrist-warmers becuz it's in a kinda fishnet pattern. I'll post that up when I'm done. (of which I also found the pattern for from Craftster.org) These gloves are a bit more complicated than the ones I just made, I actually have to concentrate on these! lol! the other ones I finished while watching rented movies wit the sister. If anyone wants the pattern to any of these, I'd be glad to give u pointers. Enjoy and lemme kno wat u think!

I finished the bag! Well, okie, so it took like 2 nights and half a day, but I'm done! I put a pretty pin on it just for the heck of it. It turned out a little larger than I expected... I'm not sure if it's because of the yarn I used or what... I used the recommended size needles... or maybe it just looked smaller in the picture in the book... anywho, it's complete... I'm not sure if I'm too attached to it, so I may be looking for a new owner for it. Drop me a line if you like the bag =P (the dimensions officially are ~8 in. tall, 11 in. wide and 3 in. deep, all not counting the strap)
as for other news, I think I'll be starting another project... I couldn't help myself and bought a pricy ball of yarn from Imagiknit cuz it was so soft and cuddly! It's by Wendy, part of it's Chunky line, called Velvet Touch, it's made in England! Oh and it's kind of a mauve pink color... So I wanna make a scarf, or more like a neck wrap/tube/cowl thing... lol! guess u'll just have to see when I'm done... maybe I'll mix it with some of my pink mohair yarn that I got a while back... who knows, stay tuned for the results!

ok ok, I know, it's BEEN awhile.... so let's recap shall we? so as u scroll down, u will see the pics of the past happenings, of which I will be explaining here, but if u just wanna see pics, then be my guest... so, most recent first, we got new Ham-hams! well actually Erica had only expected to get one, but my brother's friend Abby left another one with her, which was supposed to be just for the nite...but now we've got two ham-hams we dunnno wat to do with, they have cages and everything, seperated becuz one's a boy and one's a girl. If someone would realy love a hamster please lemme kno, she's a adorable cream colored golden (syrian) ham, she's still a "baby", hasn't bitten anyone, so good tempered, AND she'd come with a cage! but yeah, there's pics of them down there... so yeah, Cindy's birthday was the 3rd, we had ice cream cake at her house and yeah, I dabbed a bit of icing on her nose and her cheek, but then her sister Shirley caked her whole face, (she caked my brother on his b-day too), actually Benny got some up her nose, but he ran away and washed his hands before she could see anything, since she was blinded by icing... but I didn't catch a pic of it all cuz my camera was off... it was funny tho...
onto Marine World, the annual Kababayan Fest (a filipino family event) was being held there last, last Sat. the 31st of Aug., and Joremel and his band were playing for it! Along with Lalaine, the girl who plays Miranda on Disney's the Lizzie Mcguire show, Once Voice and Rex Navarrete... also a whole lotta "bay area" talent, it was a pretty cool showcase of singing, dancing and a bunch of other stuff too! There was this one boy, Gabe, who just blew the socks off us when he started singing and strummin his guitar... I have a clip of it on video but gotta figure how to post that up first... but yeah, he sounded like a asian Jason Mraz! lol! Cindy was quite smitten with him and got me to hunt him down with her through the crowd to get his CD, but then she was too smittened to ask to take a pic with him, so I just asked for her, and 'viola' pic is below... Joremel's band did well, he had tons of ppl (mostly kids, but still) run up to grab some free demo CDs from him, he really had the crowd goin... overall, it was a fun day...
On a side note, I'm starting that cute little bag from Rowan yarn designs that I had wanted to work on, the blue one in the pic back on july 30th, I finally gotta chance to check out a yarn shop here in SF, Imagiknit (rite on 18th and Sanchez), it's a really cute shop and yes, again, I spent a lot of time there, but Erica was with me, rushin me to hurry up cuz she wanted to go to Petsmart... so not as long as I'd like, but yeah, I was able to find a substitute for the Rowan Big Wool yarn, it's a yarn from Plymouth yarns, called Encore Mega. I was only able to find a nice blue color almost like that in the pic, but I kinda wanted a pink bag for myself... we'll see how this turns out first tho... =)

So I just realized that I haven't posted any recent project accomplishments lately. welps, here's a couple of them. I made a heather blue beanie too, but I gave it to Joremel before I remembered to take a snapshot... maybe he'll send over a pic of it in it's new home. Anyways, yes, I kno, my latest projects have been cell fone cozies... but hey, they're useful! and I've been pretty good at customizing the pattern to the individual cell fone =P it'll help me customize patterns easier... so yeah, if u wanna cell fone cozy, or palm pilot/ipod/digi cam cozy, just lemme kno! I just need the dimensions and if ur electronic has an antenna or not... a pic of it would be cool, but if I could take a look at it, even better! =) as for my next project, I want to make this really cute bag from Rowan yarn designs,

but the yarn it requires (big wool) is pretty pricey... guess we'll see... oh yeah and I went to the yarn shop today at SC, The Golden Fleece. It's nice there, I always spend way too much time walking around playing with all the different yarns... I should've asked if they had Rowan yarns... oh well, I'm gonna go to another yarn shop in SF 2moro (or well, today now) and run amuck there... =P also hopefully I can pick up the tix for Marine World from Prime Image too... let's see how productive of a day this will be....

here's a cell fone cozy I made for Lana, actually took 2 days or so, cuz I was in SC in betw... but yeah, turned out interesting cuz Lana just picked the color and I started knitting, I didn't kno til a couple of rows later that the yarn is a thick & thin yarn. that is, it's thick, then it's thin, then it's thick again and so on... a nice yarn for a scarf or sumding but interesting for a cozy... turned out okie at the end tho yeah?

Hoobastank Concert

whoooo hoooooo! It was great! I got to meet the band and chatted with Doug for a little, it was short but sweet. The show was great, Dredge and Phantom Planet opened for them, and Joremel complained that they weren't that good, but he was raving about the drummer of Dredge who at a few points of the show was playing the keyboard along with his drums (he's always been a fanatic about ppl who can multi-task). but yeah, I thought they were cool, but when Hoobastank got on, practically everyone got into the "pit" for some fun jumping action! During which at least 2 ppl got on the stage, they were pretty cool about it tho... they do know howto pump up the crowd, get ppl bouncing up and down. There was a good amount of ppl there, and actually I heard it was sold out like an hour b4 the show started... We were actually waiting in line to get in at like 5pm, and they open the doors at 6:30, so we got pretty good seats (I wasn't ready for the "pit"). Either way, it was all worth it to see Doug with his shirt off all hot and sweaty, and then singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" rite before the last song... Crazy cool stuff, so happy I went! and an interesting part that I have to tell you is that there was this little girl, not much older than Erica, who was standing on top of this sturdy seperator thing, she was so small that it was the only way she could see, but she was bobbin up and down swinging her "rock on" hand sign in the air, just rocking to the music... now that girl's gonna grow up a rocker...

July 23rd and Sat. July 24th, 12pm.-6ish (or whenever we get tired..) Come by, say HI! Hey, I just realized that I haven't posted in like 5 days! feels like forever....
So yeah, I have successfully cleared away half the clutter in my room! Unfortunately, that still leaves the other half.... it's kind-of-a big half.... welps, I have all next week, minus monday (midterm), which is probably why I was so successful with cleaning, because it's amazing how motivated u are to clean when u know u should be studying......
So, Cindy and I have decided to have our little garage sale next weekend, well maybe even a 3-day weekend, Fri.-Sun., 23-25th... so if any of ya'll have stuff u wanna sell off, bring it over! Only thing is u gotta stay wit ur stuff to sell it, but hey! u'd get all the profit from watever u sell! oh yeah, it's gonna be in front of Cindy's house, like I had said before. So mark ur calendars guys! Garage Sale! July 23-25th! in front of 639 morse st.! (hope it's ok I put up her address....) so yeah, come by! say hi! maybe we'll give a free fresh-baked cookie* with each purchase! =P It'll probably start around 11 or 12ish, and go til either 6pm or til we get real tired of being out there... whichever comes first....

oh yeah, and Erica had her little daycare graduation today (well yesterday, since it's like 3am now), have some pics, but will post them later, kinda tired, but yeah, it was cute, they had little performances and stuff... oh and there was this little boy that could play the recorder, the violin AND the piano! I was all pointing it out to my brother, wat a child prodigy! Then I realized that was the little boy named Luis, I said to Samuel, "No wonder Erica hates him...... I hope she marries that boy....." and Samuel cracked up... but hey, wouldn't u want to marry a genius? lol! ok ok, I know, it's sillie, Erica's only 10... oh yeah, which reminds me, she's not graduating from the daycare cuz she's finished wit elemetary school, it's cuz the daycare don't take 5th graders, can u believe that! so we're trying to figure out some plan for her afterschool care when fall starts, cuz parents have work and I'm not here and she gets off at 2:30 or so when Samuel and everyone else gets off at 3-3:30.... so we gotsa find some afterschool program or something..... lemme kno if u gots some ideas! or we'll have to let her take the bus home by herself... it's not so much that she's too young, but my mum doesn't trust that she'd go straight home....

Summer fitness

so I finally started going to the gym today (UCSC has gym open to summer students), and ran on the treadmill for a total of 45 mins... pretty proud of myself, considering I haven't been to the gym since... since... um... anyways, yeah, after running I did some rowing on the seated rowing machine thingie to work out those arms, then gotta mat and did some stretches and then some crunches... I only did like 20 or 30 crunches and already my abs were refusing anymore, so yeah... gotta work on those abs... anyone kno of a good ab workout? I'm gonna try to go swimming and to the gym every Mon., Weds., and Thurs. before my class... hopefully by the end of summer classes I'll be in better shape, lower resting heart rate and nice(strong)flat abs... oh and maybe stronger arm muscles... that's my summer fitness goal! =P

So the academic advising commitee has decided to approve my pre-appeal and waive my disqualification for fall... on the condition that I pass all classes in fall and meet with the academic preceptor every 3 weeks, the college preceptor once, an EOP adviser, and attend at least one academic success workshop... oh yeah, and get a tutor for my classes... boy, hope I remember to do all that... but yeah, they're also urging me to take a quarter off to get myself straightened out... but I don't think I have any time left to do that... no time, no money... wat would I do if I wasn't in school anyways... so yeah, it's on for fall...
On another note, I've gotten myself a pretty, shiny, new digi cam! as you've probably noticed from the very clear pics from a post earlier... now I can take pics of everything! yay! oh yeah, if anyone wants a copy of a pic from the sac town trip, let me know! tag me or email or aim...

Trip to Sac Town

So the 'rents decided to take a trip all the way to Sac Town just to go to the Waterworld there, apparently it's cheaper there than Concord... anyways, we woke up pretty early to head out (around 7:30 or 8 am I couldn't remember), but yeah, we ended up being an hour late to meet up with the other families which were going too... so really it's not "filipino time" when ppl show up at least an hour later than they should, it's just "asian time" in general, cuz it always happens to us... but yeah, the drive wasn't very long at all and when we got there, the heat hit... big time! god, how could anybody inhabit such a place! A normal human could not possible function correctly in such high temperatures! so yeah, we went swimming in the "wavepool" for a bit, went down a pretty high slide thingie on a 2 person livesaver (I went on it with Cindy) and then alternated between tanning and taking a dip in the regular pool for the last hour or so... it was a pretty mellow day at a water park... or maybe I'm getting a little old for water parks... they had this huge water slide thingie called the "Cliffhanger" which looks like a regular water slide that u just sit down and slide on, except it's like 50 ft. high... maybe a younger me would've been anxious to slide down that big boy, but today... I wasn't so enthusiastic... just felt like tanning...
I think I gotta pretty alright tan, but I think I'll have to keep tanning this summer if I wanna catch up wit Julie since she's gotta head start being in Hawaii and all...

So there's Cindy and me, just tanning... and that latter one I just had to post, cuz Cindy's sisters got pretty bored after dinner (we ate out at her dad's work), and they decided to grab ppl unexpectedly and snap a photo of them as quickly as possible, first Jackie and Shirley practiced with each other for a bit, then Jackie told Cindy about it so she said, "let's do it" and Jackie told everyone, "Ok, act normal, pretend your eating," so Cindy started getting into it, pretending to get something from the table and BAM! Jackie grabs her by the neck and SNAP! she shot a pic! I had been prepared I soon as I saw them scheming and quickly snapped a pic of the action... and here it is... you gotta love the look on Cindy's face... just priceless...

So I finally started Angels & Demons (by Dan Brown), the prequel to The Da Vinci Code... it's pretty interesting so far, since I'm only on chapter 6... should definitely read it before The Da Vinci Code if you haven't already read it all yet, I think it gives a good start, although I feel that The Da Vinci Code is a little more exciting in that the chase starts off almost rite away... but both books start you off with a mysterious murder scene to entice your curiosity and pull you into the story... making you want to know more...
All in all, there's nothing like a good mystery to keep your imagination alive through the summer...

So I just sent Julie off to Hawaii today, well I didn't send her there, she wanted to go do that "cultural studies" program thingie, but yeah, dropped her off at the airport today around 3 pm... she was a little nervous about flying by herself, tho she has done it before... she was fine, just a little jittery... but yeah, I got her to start blogging about her time in Hawaii, so here it is people, Julie's blog!

Spiderman 2 ROCKS!

Oh man! It was incredible! despite the crowded theater (who would expect so many ppl to be watching the 1st showing at 12:01am in the morning!? oh yeah, me!) and the lack of seats (even though we got there about an hour early..) all together, it was COMPLETELY worth it! more character development, great plot, beautiful graphics of swinging/flying fight scenes, and corny bits to be sarcastic about the comic book theme... plus more depth about the peter parker-maryjane watson relationship! so many things answered! so many things left to come! man! You gotta watch it for yourself! and it's definitely a different experience to watch it in the theater, any home tv screen would never do it justice... if your not a big crowds person, I suggest watching it a little later, maybe by the third week it mite calm down... but having the enthusiasts there tonite was even more exciting, they were all cheering when the movie was about to start... even though someone in the film room was messing wit the lights and dimmed it down then brightened them back up again like twice to throw everyone off... yeah, that was funny... so yeah, a totally must see, must experience kinda movie! WATCH SPIDERMAN 2!!! in theaters NOW!
